Trailer: Despicable Me 2

It’s here, sort of.

The teaser trailer for Despicable Me 2 has arrived…and the Minions are back!

We won’t see the sequel for another year, but with The Lorax hitting theaters, this is the perfect time to wet the audience’s whistle with a reminder of what’s to come.

The Minions are featured in this trailer performing their unique version of The Beach Boys’ Barbara Ann.

Steve Carrell is back voicing Gru and the newest addition is Al Pacino who will voice the evil villain of the film.

Can’t wait.

Trailer: Son of No One

Solid cast, with a premise that’s been done to death, but the film bombed at the Sundance Film Festival.

Channing Tatum stars, along with Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Juliette Binoche, Katie Holmes and Tracy Morgan.

A young cop is assigned to a precinct in the working class neighborhood where he grew up, and an old secret threatens to destroy his life and his family.

The Son Of No One is due to release on November 4th, 2011.

Ben Foster to Play John Gotti Jr.

We finally have a concrete name, Ben Foster will assume the role of John Gotti Jr. in the John Gotti bio-pic dubbed Gotti: In The Shadow of My Father.

For a long time names like James Franco and Dominic Cooper were attached to the younger Gotti, but not Foster will assume the role.

There has been tremendous turmoil in regards to this production, from title changes to Joe Pesci suing the suits in charge for changing his role, taking his pay rate down from $3 million to $1 million and also changing his character. He gained 30lbs for the role, and now gets thrown another curveball.

Foster will play the well known son to John Gotti Sr. who will be played by John Travolta.

Al Pacino and Kelly Preston are also in the film.

Foster is an odd choice, not because he can’t act, because he can, but he doesn’t really seem to fit the look they are going for.

Foster has been quite busy of late, recently starring along side Jason Statham in The Mechanic and having starred in Fernando Meirelles’ 360, Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion, Oren Moverman’s Rampart, and Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

Trailer: Jack and Jill

Well Adam Sandler, you have done it again.

Another beyond horrible movie doesn’t look remotely funny, you are really getting the hang of that aren’t you Sandler?

Jack and Jill is the lovely story of the annoying twin sister coming to town to live with the family.

Only what makes things worse is Adam Sandler will play Jack in the film along with the twin sister, you guessed it, Jill.

Katie Holmes, Nick Swardson also stars as well as, and only God knows why he accepted this, Al Pacino.

With Just Go With it, Grown Ups, Funny People, Bed Time Stories, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry his last six films, Sandler hasn’t managed to make a decent film in over four years.

I think this is my pick for worst movie of the year.

Enjoy.

Jack and Jill is set to be released on November 11th, 2011.

Al Pacino to Star in The Humbling

Al Pacino is ready to pair up with Barry Levinson again, in a new film called “The Humbling.”

Based on a book by the same name written by Phillip Roth,  the story centers on a character named Simon Axler played by Pacino, “a famous stage actor in decline who is revived when he retires to his upstate New York farmhouse and shacks up with a much younger woman.”

Levinson is currently looking for the younger female lead.

Guess Pacino will have his pick of young starletts.

The movie is scheduled to start shooting in the fall. Levinson is pushing back “Gotti: Three Generations,” which Pacino will also have a role in, to shoot “The Humbling” first.

Al Pacino to Star in Imagine

Al Pacino has his next role lined up, he will star in Dan Fogelman’s “Imagine.”

Fogelman wrote the upcoming Steve Carell comedic drama “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”

Earlier it was reported that Carell was attached to star in this film about “a sixty-something Bruce Springsteen-type rocker discovers a long-unopened letter addressed to him from John Lennon; after reading it, he’s shocked to learn that he actually fathered a son (Carell).

Carell has been forced to drop out of the project becasue of scheduling conflicts, but Pacino may take on the role of the aged rocker.

Seems like a completely different role for Pacino, but it may work.

Pacino is next slated to be in the “Gotti: Three Generations” film, which will hopefully allow him to bounce back from some recent poor film choices.

Al Pacino Joins Gott: Three Generations

No stranger to the mob himself, Al Pacino is back at it again.

Pacino who once played the legendary and immortal Michael Corleone, will now set ties in with the mafia again in the film about the Gotti family.

John Travolta will plays John Gotti Sr, Lindsey Lohan will play Kim Gotti, who is John Gotti Jr.’s wife, Joe Pesci is aboard and will play the older Gotti’s right hand man, Angelo Ruggerio.

Travolta’s real life wife, Kelly Preston will play Gotti Sr.’s wife, Victoria (how convenient) and Angel Gotti, the daughter of John Sr. and Victoria, who will be played by the Travoltas’ daughter Ella Bleu Travolta.

Pacino will have a major part no doubt. He is playing the role of Gambino crime family underboss Neil Dellacroce, an associate and mentor to Gotti Sr.

We are still waiting to see who will play John Gotti Jr. although rumors a month or so back said James Franco was possibly taking the role, and we are also waiting on who will play Victoria Gotti, Juniors sister.

Barry Levinson will direct.

“I Heard You Paint Houses” Confirmed.

So, who’s ready for the next legendary mob film?

I’m talking about one that will be mentioned with “Goodfellas,” “Godfather,” and “Casino.”

While pushing his latest movie “Limitless,” Robert De Niro confirmed a film that has been talked about for over three years now.

“I Heard You Paint Houses” is indeed going to be made. With the best cast for a film since the original Godfather.

The film is about Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, the man who allegedly killed Jimmy Hoffa and Joe Gallo, two of the biggest mob members in history.

Ready for the best news of all?

Directing the film will be Martin Scorsese.

Wait it gets better.

Joining De Niro will be Joe Pesci and Al Pacino.

Is this something you may be interested in? Here is what De Niro had to say about the project.

“It’s a movie based on a book called I Heard You Paint Houses. It’s about a guy who is – and I believe the book – says he’s now passed away, but he confessed that he killed Hoffa and also Joe Gallo over here on Hester Street. And so I’m going to play that character, Joe Pesci’s gonna be in it and Al Pacino is going to be in it and Marty’s going to direct it.”

De Niro then added,

“I’d never say it if I didn’t really fully have us all, you know, committed.”

For those wondering about the title, in “mob slang talk” to say you “paint houses” means you execute people, or you’re a hitman. The term derived from the blood splattering on the walls, thus came the “painting.”

Hopefully people can temper their excitement, since this is just the beginning of what could be an amazing film.

More Scorsese, “Silence” Up Next Instead?

Just as I finished writing about “The Wolf of Wall Street” I saw another outlet say that it won’t be Martin Scorsese’s next film after “Hugo Cabret.”

Lot’s of reports.

But now there is talk (from the site The Playlist) that a film that Scorsese has been attached to since 2006, called “Silence” will take precedence.

Based on the novel by Shusaku Endo, the plot tells the story of two Jesuit priests who move to Japan to spread the word of Christianity and are met with violence and abuse.

The film is still set to star Daniel Day-Lewis (whom Scorsese worked with on Gangs of New York), Benicio Del Toro and Gael Garcia Bernal.

So who knows what Scorsese will tackle next, but we all know he has his hands full.

And of course we won’t forget about “The Irishman” that is suppose to star Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci.

James Franco, How Vain Can You Be?

Ok, this is not a joke.

Throughout history, there have been significant figures that have changed society and modern culture, we all know that. The ones that have had a major impact in the world, often get written about in history books and even have entire classes dedicated to them in college campus’ across the globe.

For example, UCLA, Harvard and Washington University all have courses that study the life and lyrics of rapper Tupac Shakur.

Well now guess who you can study if you attend Columbia College Hollywood in California…no not Robert De Niro, or Al Pacino, not even Denzel Washington.

You can sign up to take a course on James Franco.

Franco, who is widely known to be a savant of sorts, he currently is a Ph.D student in English at Yale and received his MFA from Columbia last year.

Franco along with Columbia College Hollywood set up a 12-student editing class where they will create a half-hour documentary using footage from his film career.

The course, called “Master Class: Editing James Franco … With James Franco,” will be taught by Franco’s editor Tyler Danna.

The man who starred most recently in “127 Hours” will talk to students through Skype and attend weekly sessions, depending on his schedule.

I may be alone in these sentiments but boy, you must be awfully full of yourself and your career to have students “study” and create a documentary about your work.

AND YOU’RE NOT EVEN AN OSCAR WINNER!!!!

I understand if you are a legend like De Niro, Pacino, or a Marlon Brando but someone like Franco who has made dumb movies like “Pineapple Express” and The “Spiderman” series and hasn’t won jack, really doesn’t deserve this.

Sure Franco was great in “Milk” along side Sean Penn, and he got great reviews for his performance in “127 Hours” (I didn’t think he was all that great” but still, an entire class on him?

I’ve seen many interviews with Franco and he does carry himself like his you know what doesn’t stink, so this shouldn’t surprise me, but I’m floored.

Hey Franco, win a couple Oscars before you assign a curriculum about your film career!
