Director Darren Aronofsky took to Twitter today to share an insanely cool picture from the set of his latest film, Noah.
It looks biblical.
You can’t have the story of Noah without his arc right? Well Aronofsky tweeted a picture of the arc under construction.
In his tweet he said:
“I dreamt about this since I was 13. And now it’s a reality. Genesis 6:14″
For those unaware, Genesis 6:14 says “So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.”
Russell Crowe will be playing Noah, the man famous for building an arc for the flood, and gathering two of every animal. Jennifer Connolly will play his wife, the two have previously starred together in A Beautiful Mind . Logan Lerman, and Douglas Booth will play Noah’s sons, Emma Watson will play a young woman who falls for Booth’s character. Ray Winstone will play the villain, while Anthony Hopkins will play Methuselah.
Crowe recently tweeted “My kids are flipping out that I’m going to work with Hermoine.”
Aronofsky has been adamant that this won’t be a straight forward, biblical tale. He is certainly putting his spin on things, and when he does it usually works out very well.
Here are details on Aronofsky’s ambitious vision:
Noah (Russell Crowe) hears the voice of God warning him that the world cannot be allowed to survive in the corrupted, ruined form Noah sees around him. It is a violent, freaky, scary world that Aronofsky and his co-writer Ari Handel have created. I’m particularly excited to see how Aronofsky brings to life the Watchers, eleven-foot-tall fallen angels with six arms and no wings. They have a major presence in the script, and they’re fascinating. Early on, when Noah needs to go see his grandfather, he has to move through the homeland of the Watchers, something that is not easy to do.
Noah is set to hit theaters on March 28, 2014.
