Trailer: Red Lights

Here is the new theatrical trailer for the psychological thriller by Rodrigo Cortes, Red Lights.

I’ve been interested in this film for over a year as production was under way, Robert De Niro plays a world famous psychic, while a team comprising of Cillian Murphy and Sigourney Weaver try to figure out if he is a phony.

Synopsis

Veteran paranormal researchers Dr. Margaret Matheson (Sigourney Weaver) and Tom Buckley (Cillian Murphy) debunk fraudulent claims of ghost whispering, faith healing and other psychic phenomena by detecting what Matheson calls “red lights,” the subtle tricks behind every staged supernatural occurrence. But when the legendary blind psychic Simon Silver (Robert De Niro)comes out of retirement after 30 years, his once-fearless adversary Matheson warns Buckley to back off, fearing reprisal from the powerful Silver. Determined to discredit Silver, Buckley and his star student (Elizabeth Olsen) use every tool at their disposal to uncover the truth behind the charismatic, spoon-bending, mind reader. But Buckley is forced to reexamine his own core beliefs as his quest builds to a mind-blowing conclusion in this taut psychological thriller from award-winning writer and director Rodrigo Cortes (Buried).

Trailer: The Bourne Legacy

Sign me up. Right now. I’m in.

The biggest question when it was reported that the “Bourne” series would continue sans Matt Damon, was who would replace him, and would it even come close to being as good?

And with this new theatrical trailer, I think we can say, at glass shattering volume, ABSOLUTELY, this looks like it’s going to be amazing.

Jeremy Renner is leading the way, and seems to fit like a glove. His nemesis will be played by Edward Norton, and the new female lead is Rachel Weisz.

The film also stars Albert Finney, Joan Allen, Scott Glenn, Stacy Keach, and Oscar Isaac.

The Bourne Legacy hits theaters on August 3rd, 2012.

Synopsis:

The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy.  The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films.

Trailer: Les Miserables

One of the most successful plays in Broadway history is coming to the silver screen, again.

Directed by Tom Hooper, (The Kings Speech) Les Miserables just from the look of the trailer seems like it’ll have a strong presence at the award show, from the costumes to the cinematography to the music.

Les Misérables stars Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Hugh Jackman (Jean Valjean), Russell Crowe (Javert), Amanda Seyfried(Cosette), Eddie Redmayne (Marius), Sacha Baron Cohen(Thénardier), and Helena Bonham Carter (Madame Thénardier).

Synopsis:

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

Kitsch, Hedlund, and Hammer Up for Catching Fire Role?

If you asked 10 different people about The Hunger Games, you’d get 10 different answers, the film which was based on a best selling book, didn’t translate fantastically onto the silver screen.

Between horrible camera work, and some miscast characters, I found the film to be decent at best, the bright spot of the film was indeed the lead actress, Jennifer Lawrence.

The film did well, and with it’s massive following, a second and third film will be happening.

The Hunger Games – Catching Fire is the next book, while the film will simply be called Catching Fire.

With the main characters locked in, one major role is still in question, that of Finnick Oddair. A few weeks back it was rumored that Robert Pattinson, of Twilight fame, w0uld jump franchises, but he has since denied the rumors and said he won’t be joining Catching Fire.

So who will play Oddair?

The three vying for the role right now according to sources are Taylor Kitsch, best known for his work on NBC’s Friday Night Lights, along with John Carter and Battleship, Garrett Hedlund from Tron: Legacy, and probably the best actor of of the three, Armie Hammer, from The Social Network.

The plan right now is to debut Catching Fire November 22nd, 2013, that doesn’t give Lionsgate and Co. much time to get things squared away.

It’s assumed that Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Lenny Kravitz and Donald Sutherland will be returning.

Expect a decision on this within the next couple weeks.

Trailer: Lay The Favorite

I loved this book by Beth Raymer – Lay The Favorite: A Gambling Memoir, this trailer, not so much.

And I’m actually thoroughly disappointed in the trailer, as it shows the film as more of a joke, where the book was dark and showed a side to the gambling world from a jaded, young woman’s perspective.

Sure there was a ton of comedy in the book, but the trailer doesn’t feel like the book at all. Not to mention the negative reviews from Sundance.

The film stars the usually solid Rebecca Hall as Beth Raymer, a ditzy girl with a colorful past who moves to Vegas to work for a big time sports gambler Dink, played by Bruce Willis.

The film also stars Joshua Jackson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Laura Prepon.

Synopsis:

Beth Raymer is a beautiful girl with a big heart who leaves her dancing job at a Florida strip club to become a Las Vegas cocktail waitress. Not exactly an ideal career choice, but her borderline-ditzy personality doesn’t give her many options. In walks Dink, a professional sports bettor who sees through her bubbly exterior and offers her a job placing wagers all over town to gain an advantage over the casinos. Her surprisingly impeccable mind for numbers soon cements her status as Dink’s good-luck charm, until his gorgeous-but-frigid wife, Tulip, starts to get jealous. Faced with no other choice but to fire Beth, Dink’s luck runs out when she heads to New York to work for a smarmy bookie, a turn of events that lands her squarely on the wrong side of the law.

Kevin Feige Talks Thor 2

Thor 2 is next.

With Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger as the warm up acts for Marvel Studios, clearly The Avengers was the main act, and what an act it was. But one of the heads of the studio, Kevin Feige, says this is just the start, and there is much more to come.

And that starts with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston returning for Thor 2.

The major news from Feige has been that Thanos, The Mad Titan, WILL NOT be the villain portrayed in the sequel of Thor.

Instead, Mads Mikkelsen has signed on to play the villain, but no one has a clue who he will play.

Feige talks about how well The Avengers did:

“I was just hoping it would beat the opening weekend of Iron Man 2, which was the biggest opening weekend for any Marvel Studios movie. We did 80 or 90 million above that. As the numbers started coming in on Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday night, they just kept getting bigger and bigger, into areas I would never in a million years have believed.”

Feige says The Avengers was just the beginning and the fans have much to be excited about in the future:

The Avengers was not the finale for us. It was a giant, giant marker, but it was never the finale. We are already well into the plan for the next phase of our little cinematic universe.”

Here’s what Feige had to say about Thor 2:

“We’re going to see the other side of Asgard. It’s not all polished and golden in this film. And the events of Avengers will have affected Thor for sure. His relationship with Loki will continue to evolve, and the biggest part is Natalie and Thor returning with Jane Foster.”

Asked when we WILL see Thanos, Feige tells the fans to be patient:

“future, future. But there will be a major new villain. A major, major new antagonist…”

Thor 2, will be filming this summer in London.

The sequel also stars Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgard, and Ray Stevenson,  and is set to open November 15th, 2013.

New Images From Django Unchained

Last week we found out that the first trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s spaghetti western Django Unchained will be playing in front of Prometheus.

Big news, and even more of a reason to go see Ridley Scott’s sci-fi flick.

Over the last month, we’ve seen new teaser posters and a few new pictures from the film, it’s clear that this is going to be a major spectacle of a film, one that will be in the hunt for Oscars.

Jamie Foxx stars as Django, an escaped slave who goes to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington) from sadistic plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) by teaming up with bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz).

The film was screened at Cannes last week, and the hype is only growing. Here are a ton of new pictures to wet your whistle.

Django Unchained hits theaters this Christmas.

T.V. Spot #4 for The Dark Knight Rises

We are officially under two months till the release of the final chapter in Christopher Nolan’s Batman saga.

The Dark Knight Rises campaign has been in full force this past week, and your T.V. will be held hostage by the caped crusader and Bane very soon.

Here is the fourth (new) T.V. spot – for the first, second or third one – just click.

Third New T.V. Spot for The Dark Knight Rises Arrives

It’s a non-stop blitz. Plain and simple.

We saw it with The Avengers now it’s time for Batman to take over, one last time.

Here is the new, third, T.V. spot for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, which hits theaters on July 20th, 2012.

This one is centered around Tom Hardy as Bane.

Four New Banners for The Dark Knight Rises

It’s been a crazy 48 hours for The Dark Knight Rises advertising campaign. From new posters, to new images from the film, and today massive brand new banners. (click on them to see them in their full size)

It won’t be long now, with new T.V. spots debuting yesterday, along with the simulmtationus promo’s going with the NBA Playoffs – this is a well oiled machine that has just begun revving it’s pistons.

The new banners are pretty bad-ass, very action, and dramatic, I think we will see this blown up and plastered all over movie theaters across the country.

We get a show down between Bane’s army and Batman, Anne Hathaway on the Batpod, and a solo banners of Bane and Batman.

Bane has let us all know that he is “Gotham’s Reckoning” and that “Gotham’s Liberation” I can’t wait to see what he means on July 20th, 2012.
