“I Heard You Paint Houses” Confirmed.

So, who’s ready for the next legendary mob film?

I’m talking about one that will be mentioned with “Goodfellas,” “Godfather,” and “Casino.”

While pushing his latest movie “Limitless,” Robert De Niro confirmed a film that has been talked about for over three years now.

“I Heard You Paint Houses” is indeed going to be made. With the best cast for a film since the original Godfather.

The film is about Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, the man who allegedly killed Jimmy Hoffa and Joe Gallo, two of the biggest mob members in history.

Ready for the best news of all?

Directing the film will be Martin Scorsese.

Wait it gets better.

Joining De Niro will be Joe Pesci and Al Pacino.

Is this something you may be interested in? Here is what De Niro had to say about the project.

“It’s a movie based on a book called I Heard You Paint Houses. It’s about a guy who is – and I believe the book – says he’s now passed away, but he confessed that he killed Hoffa and also Joe Gallo over here on Hester Street. And so I’m going to play that character, Joe Pesci’s gonna be in it and Al Pacino is going to be in it and Marty’s going to direct it.”

De Niro then added,

“I’d never say it if I didn’t really fully have us all, you know, committed.”

For those wondering about the title, in “mob slang talk” to say you “paint houses” means you execute people, or you’re a hitman. The term derived from the blood splattering on the walls, thus came the “painting.”

Hopefully people can temper their excitement, since this is just the beginning of what could be an amazing film.

Review: The Dilemma

When will Hollywood learn?

The cliche plot that’s been done to death with A-List actors, is just a recipe for disaster.

I went into this viewing expecting to see a bad movie, in a way to prepare myself for the worst, and or be thoroughly surprised if it didn’t bomb.

It did.

Vince Vaughn is paired with Kevin James, two guys who have made their mark in film on their slapstick comedy. The sad part is their chemistry, one-liners and overall execution of a poor script was mundane and flat.

The story is simple; two best friends, both in seemingly great relationships until one finds out the others wife is cheating on him. Now Vaughn’s character, Ronny has to decide how and when to tell Nick (James) so that his relationship survives.

BORING.

How many times has this plot been done? Seriously Hollywood…running out of ideas or what?

Jennifer Connelly plays Vaughn’s love interest while, Winona Ryder plays James’.

Pretty surprising that Connelly continues to take these rom-com roles when she has the acting skills to be so much better, like she showed in “A Beautiful Mind” and “Blood Diamond” yet we have seen her in this role time after time.

Ryder takes this role after a strong supporting job in “Black Swan” it just screams, collecting a check.

The film is boring, predictable and for being a romance-comedy it really lacks both.

Channing Tatum stars as the trouble-making home wrecker. All you see are cut off sleeves and tattoo’s coupled with yelling, bats and guns. It’s a typical role in this type of film, but again you have to ask why is this actor taking this role? Tatum has been slowly working his way up the ladder in the movie world, but taking films like this is a step back.

I found myself checking the time and my brain wandering off, as “The Dilemma” to fall asleep began to surface. All that echos is a testament to the movie not being able to keep the viewers attention.

Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Maybe on a rainy day in October later this year when you have noting to do, rent this but that’s as far as I’ll ever go.

I’d have to say this is an early front runner for worst comedy of the year.

Gary Oldman Briefly Comments on The Dark Knight Rises

Much like Tom Hardy a couple weeks ago, who spoke about his character Bane, Gary Oldman in an interview yesterday gave tiny comments on the film.

“The Dark Knight Rises” may be the most anticipated tree-quel of all trilogies, and since the announcement of the movie a long time ago, we are still very much in the dark (no pun intended) about the film.

The comment everyone has been tossing around is Nolan can’t possibly top “The Dark Knight” and the script or ideas just won’t be as good.

Gary Oldman, like Tom Hardy and Wally Pfister a month ago, disagrees.

The man who plays Commisoner Gordon, spoke with IMDB’s Steve Weintraub and told him that he has spoken to director Christopher Nolan about the story and it is

“Fantastic!”

Then Oldman added,

“You think you can’t top The Dark Knight and I think he may have.”

Seems like the cast thus far are all sold on this being the best movie of the three. It’s pretty obvious the fans are excited and hope the film walks the walk, because it certainly talks the talk.
