Trailer: Here Comes the Boom

Kevin James is a huge MMA and UFC fan. He is at tons of events, I guess he thought he could do a movie about it now.

In his next movie Here Comes the Boom James stars as a high school science teacher who decides to take up mixed martial arts as a way to earn money to save extra curricular activities at his school.

Yea, I’m not buying it.

Salma Hayek, Henry Winkler, Melissa Peterman, Joe Rogan, and Bas Rutten all star alongside James.

Here Comes the Boom hits theaters on October 12th, 2012.

Synopsis:

In the comedy Here Comes the Boom, former collegiate wrester Scott Voss (Kevin James) is a 42-year-old apathetic biology teacher in a failing high school. When cutbacks threaten to cancel the music program and lay off its teacher (Henry Winkler) Scott begins to raise money by moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter. Everyone thinks Scott is crazy – most of all the school nurse, Bella (Salma Hayek) – but in his quest, Scott gains something he never expected as he becomes a sensation that rallies the entire school.

Ryan Reynolds is Officially Highlander

Last month Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment were saying they wanted Ryan Reynolds to take the lead in the Highlander reboot.

Today, it became official.

After roughly a month of negotiations, Ryan Reynolds has officially been cast in the lead role for HIGHLANDER. Reynolds will play Conner MacLeod, a Highlander who discovers he is one of a dwindling group of immortals who wander the earth and kill each other in combat for the final “Prize” – immortality.

Reynolds is familiar with the whole dress up super powers concept, from Deadpool, to Green Lantern, even to Paper Man.

He should be able to handle the role, it’ll be interesting to see where they take the reboot of a story.

Trailer: Robot and Frank

I will fight to my dying day, trailers need to be shortened. With these “standard” theatrical trailers being over two minutes, it forces these studios to add in so much more material then they should to sell a film.

Robot and Frank is an interesting, charming story about the older generation and the cutting edge technology.

Frank Langella stars as a retired thief who looks to get back to his old ways with his new buddy, a robot, voiced by Pete Sarsgaard.

Watching the trailer, the kicker, of Langella being a jewel thief comes towards the end, and yet makes the film seem completely different than the first 60 seconds of the trailer.

I think way too much was shown and reveled in this trailer, it almost makes me angry, and you have to ask yourself why you’d go see this when so much was already shown to you in a mere two minutes and thirty seconds.

Susan Sarandon, James Marsden, and Liv Tyler also star in the film.

Robot and Frank hits theaters on August 24th, 2012.
